Be able to take payment in ANY FORM (credit card, ecash, checks, wire transfers)

If you have an online database, Back It Up to an offsite location every hour.

Have a backup server ready to "plug in" should your primary machine have a failure of any sort. Make sure this machine's database is current with your primary one (see tip #2)

Add a weblink for your domain to your email and usenet signature (most email clients support an HTML "template" .... use it!)

Get an "800" number, post it visibly on your search engine's account area. Don't be afraid to take phone calls, and don't look like you're hiding by not making it prominent

Make a list of the top 5 reasons someone should buy or use your product or service. Use them in every conversation you have.

Get involved in any online communities (forums, newsgroups) related to the "niche" market you serve.

Do not spam forum and newsgroups. Getting involved does not imply plastering your announcements all over the place. It *does* imply offering legitimate advice, counsel, and answers whenever you can.

Do not pose or post as anyone other than yourself when interacting in an online community. Be up front, and honest, and you'll garner respect. Hide in the shadows, and pretend that you're a "regular guy" giving a glowing review of your own product is not only shallow, but will remove all respectability from your engine.
